‘Everyone and everything under one roof’
New construction of a development and production building for the Hafner company
2012-2015
A building as the CI of the company, developer and manufacturer of high-precision measuring tools and machines.
From the outside, the building is formulated as a precise workpiece with a smooth, shiny metal skin and precise incisions in the volume. A joint running along the entire length of the building depicts open communication and the juxtaposition of development and production and formulates customer and employee entrances – as the respective ends of the joint – with equal value. The development and production areas face each other as dialogue partners with multiple visual references through the communication gap. Short distances between these areas and places of communication in the ‘joint’ ensure a high level of innovation, productivity and therefore successful work. The evenly sloping roof includes all the necessary functions for lighting and energy supply to the building.
A graphic in the entrance area of the communication joint (by and with 22quadrat/Osnabrück), developed in keeping with the individuality and precision of Hafner’s products, refers to the use and architecture of the building.
