Contemporary representative with Deilmann’s attitude

District building I Extension for district control centre and administration

2021

The challenge of the task at hand is to develop an urban building block with the aura of a public building at an important location in terms of urban development, while at the same time meeting the security requirements of non-visibility and accessibility of some areas only for a limited group of people. The task of giving the Deilmann ensemble a next and final extension is solved by means of a significant building structure that mediates between the location on Schützenwall/historical city centre and the higher public authority buildings and city extension on the other side of Friedrich-Ebert-Straße by means of a monopitch roof and thus refers to Deilmann’s architectural language of its own typological attitude and yet – via cubature formations – shows urban development references. The result is a contemporary building based on Deilmann’s predetermined approach. A significant building, recognisable at first glance as representative and containing a public institution.
